Pratt Named OVC Indoor Freshman of the Year

Murray State women's track and field freshman Tonia Pratt has been named the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Female Freshman of the Year as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Pratt heads into this weekend's OVC Indoor Championship with the best mark among league participants in the weight throw. The Michigan Center, Mich., native landed a throw of 16.94m (55'7”) at the Racers last meet (Hoosier Hills). The next athlete on the list, who is eligible for the championship, has a throw of 15.66m (51'4.5”) - Condia Smith of Eastern Illinois.
Pratt is also ranked fourth on the list for the shot put. She hit a personal-best mark of 13.05m (42'9.75”) at the SIU Invitational.
MSU will be in Nashville, Tenn., this weekend to participate in the OVC Indoor Championships, Feb. 24-25 at the Gentry Center on the campus of Tennessee State.
