Women’s Tennis Set to Host Evansville and Chattanooga

The Murray State women's tennis team will host Evansville and Chattanooga as part of their six-straight home matches at the Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Ky., to open the 2011-12 season. The Racers (1-0) will host the Purple Aces, Friday, Feb. 10 at noon, with the match as being the annual Pink-Out to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. MSU will then host the Mocs, Sunday, Feb. 12 at noon.
Evansville is 3-0 in 2011-12, including two wins over Ohio Valley Conference opponents. The Purple Aces have defeated Austin Peay (4-3), Lipscomb (6-1) and UT Martin (6-1) this season. The all-time series with Evansville currently stands at 33-5 in favor of the Racers, with the Purple Aces having won the last two. The last meeting was Feb. 11, 2011 at Kenlake, with UE earning a 6-1 win.
Chattanooga is 2-0 on the season and will face Evansville at Kenlake, Saturday, Feb. 11 before facing MSU. The Mocs currently own a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series, but the Racers took the last meeting, 4-2 (March 27, 2007). The last time Chattanooga came to Murray to play was March 9, 1988, where they earned a 5-3 win. That match was one of just three in the series played in Murray, with the Mocs earning a 2-1 advantage.
