Canaan Named All-America By NABC

Murray State junior Isaiah Canaan added another post-season honor Tuesday when the National Association of Basketball Coaches named him to their list of 2012 Division I All-America Teams.
Canaan, of Biloxi, Miss., was named to the NABC All-America Third Team after a stellar season that saw him win the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year Award and become a three-time All-OVC selection.
Last week, Canaan led the Racers into their 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament where MSU defeated Colorado State 58-41 in the second round before falling to Marquette in the third round 62-53.
Canaan's splendid 2011-12 season helped the Racers achieve record-upon-record as they finished 31-2 which marked the most wins in the 87 years of MSU Basketball. The Racers were the final undefeated team at 23-0 and were the only team in the nation to go undefeated on the road this season.
As the NCAA's prepared to go into the Sweet 16 round on Thursday, Canaan was 24th in the country with 19.0 points per game, he ranked 6th in made three-point baskets per game at 2.96 and he was 13th in three-point percentage at .456.
Already named a First Team All-America by The Sporting News and USBWA Second Team All-America, Canaan is also being considered for all of the major awards this season including the Wooden, Naismith, Robertson, Cousy and Henson Awards.
Voting was conducted by member coaches of the NABC.
