Track & Field Heads to Nashville for Vanderbilt Black & Gold

For the second-straight season the Murray State women's track & field team will be participating in the Vanderbilt Black & Gold, March 23-34 at the Vanderbilt Track.

The Racers will be one of 20 teams in the meet, including four teams from the Ohio Valley Conference. MSU will be joined by Austin Peay, Southeast Missouri and Tennessee Tech from the OVC.

Friday three field events will take place, starting at 5 p.m. Field events are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday, with running events slated to start at 11 a.m. and the last event starting at 4:20 p.m.

A year ago, then-junior Lexie Barr led the MSU participants by claiming third in the pole vault and setting the school record in the process. Barr cleared a height of 3.60m (11'9.75”).

Katie Forshey, Kayla Crusham and Christina Johnson were the other three Racers returners to earn top-10 finishes at the meet. Forshey took seventh in the high jump, Johnson was eighth in the 400 and Crusham was ninth in the 3,000.
