Women’s Tennis Prepares for Two OVC Road Matches

The Murray State women's tennis team will have two Ohio Valley Conference road matches this week. The Racers (7-7, 2-0 OVC) will first head to Clarksville, Tenn., to face Austin Peay, Thursday, March 29 at 2 p.m. MSU will then head to Martin, Tenn., for the rescheduled match with UT Martin, Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
The Lady Govs are 5-10 overall and 2-1 in league play after a 4-3 loss to UTM (March 25). APSU will have one more chance to improve on its record before the Racers come to town, as they host Eastern Illinois March 27. MSU currently owns a 41-16 advantage in the all-time series, including a 20-11 mark when playing on the road. However, the Lady Govs have earned the win in the last four matches, with the last Racer win coming April 8, 2009 in Murray, Ky.
The Skyhawks are 4-8 overall and 2-0 in OVC action this season. UTM and MSU have faced each other 69 times in the all-time series, with the Racers owning a 51-18 advantage. However, the Skyhawks earned the win in the last meeting (March 21, 2011). The series currently stands 26-13, in favor of MSU, when played in Martin.
