Murray State's Isaiah Canaan was named to the 2012 Lute Olson All-America team announced by CollegeInsider.com.
The Olson All-America Team isn't assembled using a first, second, third team or honorable mention. This All-American list is one team consisting of twenty-five players.
This marks the fourth time that the junior from Biloxi, Miss., has been named to an All-America team. Previously he was honored by: CBS, National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
Canaan was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and earned all-league honors for a third straight season.
He is currently ranked 24th in the nation 19.0 points per game. He is also ranked sixth in the nation shooting 45.6 percent from behind the arc and 13th in the nation with 2.97 made three-point baskets per game. He had four games of 30 points or more including a 36-point game against Southern Mississippi when the Racers won the Great Alaska Shootout title.
The Racers enjoyed being in the spotlight this season when they had a 23-0 start and were the final undefeated team. MSU had its highest national rankings and were the only NCAA Division I team to win every game on the road. MSU won the OVC regular season and tournament titles and beat Colorado State in the NCAA Tournament before they lost to Marquette.
Canaan now is on the list of candidates that CollegeInsider.com will use to select the Lute Olson Award winner, which is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons with his respective team. Freshmen and first-year transfers can be named to the All-America team, but are not eligible to receive the Player of the Year honors.
The award is named in honor of coaching great Lute Olson, who won 780 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.
Connecticut's Kemba Walker was the recipient of the 2011 award.
