In a game that saw Murray State rally from a five-run deficit, it was Tennessee Tech that had the final say as they walked off with a 12-11 victory Saturday afternoon at Bush Stadium.
With the game tied going to the bottom of the ninth, Tevis Sherfield delivered a one-out pinch-hit single up the middle. After a walk to Austin Wulf and an error of the bat of Dylan Bosheers loaded the bases, Ben Burgess delivered the walk-off single to left field.
The Breds (14-14, 1-4 OVC) got the bats going early as Ty Stetson singled to left center and Brandon Elliott followed with a single through the left side. After a successful sacrifice bunt by Travis Isaak, Jacob Rhodes drove in both runners with a single to left.
The Golden Eagles (11-15, 3-2 OVC) got on the board in a big way as they used four hits, a costly throwing error and four walks to push across in the second. The Breds finally managed to regain the lead in the eighth as Isaak doubled off the fence in right field and went to third on the throwing error. Rhodes drove in Isaak with a single through the right side. Mike Kozlowski followed with a grounder to short that was bobbled and then thrown into the dugout to put runners on the corners. After Larson moved the runner to second with a sacrifice bunt, Wheeler drove in both runners with a single up the middle.
The Golden Eagles tied the game in the home-half of the inning on a Burgess solo home run just over the fence in the short porch in left center.
