Breds Left Stranded in Series Finale at Tennessee Tech

Murray State jumped out to an early lead and then stalled as the Breds stranded 11 base runners in dropping an 8-7 decision to Tennessee Tech Sunday afternoon at Bush Stadium.
The Breds (14-15, 1-5 OVC) got on the board in the first inning as Travis Isaak singled to center and went to second when Jacob Rhdoes drew a walk. With two outs, Cody Larson delivered an RBI single back through the middle.
MSU extended its lead in the third as Ty Stetson doubled to left center and Isaak was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Rhodes drove in Stetson with a double just inside the bag at first. With one out, Larson was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Brandon Eggenschwiler to deliver an RBI single through the right side. Dylan Wheeler pushed across the third run of the inning by drawing a bases-loaded walk.
The Golden Eagles (12-15, 4-2 OVC) struck back in a big way in the home-half of the inning as they got an RBI single up the middle by Dylan Bosheers before getting a grand slam off the bat of Zach Stephens two batters later.
The top of the lineup helped to tie the game in the sixth as Stetson walked and Isaak singled through the left side. Rhodes followed by delivering an RBI single to right field.
TTU regained the lead in the seventh as James Abraham started the inning with a double to left field and scored on a Chad Hayes single through the left side. Bosheers later drove in his second run of the game with a single through the left side before Stephens plated a run with a single up the middle.
The Breds made one last run in the ninth as Larson singled through the left side and trotted home on Eggenschwiler's first career home run to right field.
Bryan Babin (2-2) took the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits and six strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Garrett Baugh (2-2) earned the victory in relief as he allowed three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. Ben Burgess (2) earned the save as he retired all three batters he faced.
Isaak led the offense by going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Rhodes added two hits and two RBIs, while Eggenschwiler went 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
The Breds return to action Tuesday afternoon as they play host to Southern Illinois. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Reagan Field.
