Love Makes the NCAA Indoor Championships

NCAA Indoor Championship Declarations
Murray State women's track & field junior Alexis Love made one more step in her historic season for the Racers during the indoor season. The Palmetto, Fla., native was named to the list of participants in the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships, March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho at Boise State University.
“I am so excited for Alexis,” said head coach Jenny Severns. “She has worked so hard for this. It is so awesome that she will be representing Murray State track & field on the national level.”
Love will be participating in the 200-meter dash (ranked 16th) and is the first MSU student-athlete since the 1990's to participate in the NCAA championship. As best can be determined, the last Racer to participate in the championships was Heather Samuel in the outdoor championships at Boise State.
Love earned her ticket to the championships last weekend at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame where she broke Samuel's school record in the 200. Samuel set the old record in 1994 with a time of 24.02. Love ran solo in her heat at Notre Dame in a time of 23.66.
The prelims of the 200 are schedule for 7:45 p.m., Friday, March 9 at Jacksons Indoor Track. If Love advances to the finals, they are scheduled to run at 9 p.m. that evening.
Note: Love has set two school records this indoor season…besides her record in the 200 she reset her own record in the 60 in a time of 7.42 at the Alex Wilson Invitational…Love also claimed the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference 200-Meter Dash Title.
