Racers Turn In a Number of Great Performances At Hilltopper Relays

Murray State track and field set two new school records and eight personal best records Saturday at the Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.
“Overall it was a really good meet for us, everyone was fired up and supporting each other and it showed in our performances,” head coach Jenny Severns said. “It was a fun meet for all of us, and it helped things go well today.”
Alexis Love continued her remarkable season in the 100m and 200m, finishing first in both events. Love broke her personal mark in the 100m, setting a best time mark of 11.37. LaShea Shaw finished in 12.29 to place 11th overall.
Love won by just under a second in the 200m, dominating the race in 23.26. She was joined in the event by Halie Holloway who finished 23rd in 26.64, and Megan Campbell in 30th in 28.32.
Holloway placed 14th in the 400m with a time of 59.74, and was joined by Campbell, placing 21st in 1:04.41.
Brittany Bohn and Natalie Pattin finished back-to-back in the 800m to place 11th and 12th, respectfully. Bohn ran in 2:27.56, and Pattin was just behind in 2:27.87.
Bohn also set a personal best in the 1500m, finishing in 4:52.26 to place sixth in the event.
The Racers placed three in a row in the top 10 in the 3000m, as Carolyne Tanui (5th/10:35.58), Abbie Oliver (6th/10:38.93) and Rebecca Hbetamu (7th/10:42.65) all finished within seven seconds of each other.
Shaw set a personal record in the 100m hurdles, placing fourth overall in 14.36. Sydney Potts placed 19th in the event in 16.21.
Katie Forshey was the lone entrant in the 400m hurdles, placing 20th in 1:09.39.
Kayla Crusham took 3rd in the 300m steeplechase, completing the event in 11:28.12. Anna Grimes was two spots back in 5th with a time of 11:56.01.
Forshey finished 8th overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.6m. Conway was three positions back, clearing 1.55m.
Lexie Barr tied her school record in the pole vault, finishing fourth in the event by clearing 3.6m.
Tonia Pratt finished eighth in the shot put with a distance of 13.28m. Both Addie Paris and Conway set personal bests in the event, Paris finishing in 15th at 12.27m, and Conway one spot back with a mark of 12.15m.
Pratt placed fourth overall in the discus with a mark of 43.49. Paris was 18th in the event at 31.82. Brianna McCarthy was a spot back in 19th at 30.46m, and Ashley Dumas threw 25.70m to finish 21st.
Tonia Pratt set a school record and personal best in the hammer throw, placing sixth overall in 53.33m. McCarthy was 20th at 38.41m, and Ashley Moss was 22nd in 31.92m
In the Javelin, Potts and Conway both set personal best marks. Potts finished second overall with a distance of 39.22m, and Conway was in seventh at 30.31m.
Murray State returns to action next weekend, traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for the Vanderbilt Invitational April 20 & 21.
