Racer Tennis Finishes Regular Season At Morehead State

The Murray State men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-2 loss at Morehead State on Saturday in Morehead, Ky.
The Racers finish 5-12 overall and 3-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
In the match with the home standing Eagles, the Racers lost all three doubles matches
In singles play, MSU's Arthur Valle scored MSU's lone win from the No. 1 position with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Morehead's Justin Harlow. Max McLean won his match over Hugo Almonte when he retired after McLean won the first set 6-3.
The OVC Tennis Championships return to Nashville for the first time since 2008 this season. The event will once again be held at the Centennial Tennis Center after being held in Paducah, Ky. each of the past three years. The men's championship is being contested for the 64th time (it was first held in 1949).
The Racers will be looking for their first title since they won back to back titles in 2001 and 2002. The Racers have won 20 OVC titles, the most of any school in the league. Legendary coach Bennie Purcell won 18 of those championships and his son, Mel Purcell, has won two since becoming head coach in 1997.
