Breds Drop 8-6 Game To SIUE - Sets Up Sunday Rubber Game

The Murray State Thoroughbreds dropped the second game of their home series with SIU Edwardsville Saturday 8-6 and set up the rubber game of the series at Reagan Field Sunday at 1 p.m.
After posting a remarkable eight-run eighth inning to get an 11-5 win in game one, the 'Breds took a 2-1 lead into the third inning when the Cougars cracked a couple of homeruns off of reliever Cameron Finch to take a 5-2 lead.
The 'Breds scratched single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings and took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI hit by Dylan Wheeler and a ground out by Ty Stetson to lead 6-5.
SIUE (23-21, 10-8 OVC) answered with two runs in the top of the eighth and even though MSU had the winning run at the plate in the ninth, they dropped the 8-6 decision.
The teams come back Sunday to decide the series.
On Sunday, the 'Breds (20-24, 6-11 OVC) will be looking for their second OVC series win in six series in the 2012 season.
