Love and Pratt Earn 2012 OVC Track and Field Honors

Junior Alexis Love was named the 2012 OVC Female Track Athlete of the Year, and Tonia Pratt was chosen the 2012 OVC Female Freshman Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Love dominated in both the 100m and 200m this year. The Palmetto, Fla., native took first place in each the Shamrock Invitational, Ole MIss Invitational, Hilltopper Relays and Vanderbilt Invitational. She ranks first in the OVC with a best time of 11.37 at the Hilltopper Relays, best in the conference by .31.
Her success carried over to the 200m, where she won all four events she ran this season. Love took first place at the Shamrock Invitational, Ole Miss Invitational, Hilltopper Relays and Vanderbilt Invitational. She also leads the OVC in the 200m with a time of 23.18, .86 of a second ahead of the second best time in the conference this season.
Pratt, the OVC Indoor Freshman of the year, opened the outdoor season with an immediate impact, setting a school record with a throw of 53.33m in the hammer throw at the Hilltopper Relays. The Michigan Center, Mich., native is ranked first in the OVC in the hammer (53.33m) and the discus (47.33m), and is second in the conference in the shot put (14.03m).
