Murray State track and field heads to Louisville, Ky., for the Cardinal Twilight hosted by the University of Louisville, the last meet before the NCAA Regionals.
The Racers, coming off of a third place finish at last week's OVC Championships, have an opportunity to improve their individual standings as they attempt to qualify for the first round of the NCAAs.
OVC 100m & 200m champion Alexis Love will be running the 200m Friday night, attempting to hit the Olympic “A” standard in the event. Love qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials this past weekend in the 100m.
Tonia Pratt will be participating in each the hammer, shot put and discus. A Junior National qualifier in all three events, she currently sits 52nd in the NCAA in the East Region in the discus, and will be looking to move into the top qualifying 48.
Murray State's 4x100m relay team of Love, Sharda Bettis, Halie Holloway and LaShea Shaw, winners at the OVC Championships with a school record of 45.63, currently need a time of 45.34 to reach the NCAAs.
Shaw and Bettis will each be running in the 100m, as Shaw has qualified in the event for the Junior Nationals and Bettis will be attempting to qualify for NCAA Regionals.
Sydney Pratt will also be attempting to qualify for Junior Nationals in the javelin, while Anna Grimes and Kayla Crusham will both be looking for personal records in the 3000m steeplechase.
