Alexis Love To Compete In USA Track & Field Olympic Trials

Murray State sprinter Alexis Love is ready to make her run to the London Summer Olympics when she competes in both the 100 and 200 meter events at the USA Olympic Trails (June 21-25/June 28-July 1) in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
Love hopes to keep her momentum going which has only gotten better since the spring season started. Love has continually shown she can compete with the best in the nation. She now is in the competition that will decide the USA Track & Field team that will represent our nation in late July in the London Games.
Murray State sprinter Alexis Love is ready to make her run to the London Summer Olympics when she competes in both the 100 and 200 meter events at the USA Olympic Trails (June 21-25/June 28-July 1) in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

All along the way, Love has loved to represent Murray State. “It's very important to me,” Love said. “I really enjoy representing Murray State. I feel I belong on the line with all the bigger schools and this meet is with some the fastest runners in the world so that means a lot to me to represent MSU. Overall I'm mentally tough because this has been very intense as the meets have come.” The junior from Palmetto, Fla., will start her Olympics run with the 100 meters in the first round Friday at 8 p.m. CT. If she can advance to the semifinals, Love will run Saturday in the semifinals at 5:40 p.m. CT and then at 7:52 p.m. CT if she can make the final. Love's entry in the 200m event will start Thursday (June 28) in the first round at 8:45 p.m. CT. The semifinals happen at 5 p.m. CT (June 29) with the finals coming (June 30) at 8:50 p.m. CT. When Love gets to the starting blocks in the 100, she'll be trying to top her best of the spring which was a time of 11.28 (May 5) at the OVC Championship. She posted an 11.29 (June 6) at the NCAA Championship. Heather Samuel's 11.24 is still the standard at MSU and in the OVC. Love has already broken Samuel's record in the 200 with a time of 23.09 (May 26) at the NCAA Regional. Samuel's 23.10 record was also set in 1994. Since, Love has posted a 23.03 (June 5) at the NCAA Championship. NBC and NBCSN have 12 hours of coverage planned for the USA Olympic Trials over the eight days of the meet. Love's heat and lane assignments plus the brackets for the 100 and 200 will be posted later at the home of USA Track & Field at: tracktown12.gotracktownusa.com. |
