Men's Tennis Finishes Day One at Louisville

Dylan Gerlach and Tyler Jeffers remain alive in singles competition for the Murray State men's tennis team after day one of play at the Louisville Invitational. Both Gerlach and Jeffers are in the consolation bracket.
In Flight “A” Jeffers was beaten in the opening round by Louisville's Alex Gornet 6-3 and 6-2. Jeffers responded in his consolation match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over West Alabama's Luis Ruiz. Jeffers will face Joao Maio of Eastern Kentucky tomorrow.
Gerlach remains in Flight “C” for MSU. After receiving a first round bye, Gerlach was defeated by Arkansas' Pete Thomason 6-0, 6-0. Gerlach will face Chicago State's Luis Ulloa tomorrow in the consolation match.
Adam Taylor won his opening match of the day in Flight “A” over Morehead State's Nick Mercer 6-3 and 6-0. Taylor then lost his second round match to Youngstown State's Sebastian Hagn 4-6 and 3-6 and was eliminated from the flight.
In Flight “B” the Racers' Joao Camara won his opening round match over Julian Chavez of Chicago State 6-4 and 7-5. In Round Two, Camara dropped the match to Louisville's Van Damrongsri, 6-0 and 6-2. Max McLean also played in the second flight. McLean won his opening match over Austin Peay's Iago Seffrin after Seffrin had to withdraw after the first set. McLean won the set 7-6. In his second match, McLean was defeated by Eastern Kentucky's Florian Graskamp 6-2 and 6-2.
Nik Mitric dropped his first round match to West Alabama's Adam Drysdale 6-2, 6-2. Mitric then fell in his consolation match, 6-0 and 6-1 to Youngstown State's Zeeshan Ismail. Alex Mitric competed in the “C” Flight for the Racers and won his first match over Gautam Sreeram of Bluefield State, 6-1 and 6-2. Mitric then fell to Honorio Fernandez of West Alabama in the second round, 6-2 and 6-2.
The doubles team of Jeffers and Nik Mitric fell in their “A” Flight opening round match to Buffington and Damrongsri of Louisville, losing 8-2. They will face the Kentucky duo of Gold and Binder tomorrow. Taylor and Camara also played in the top flight, and fell to Louisville's Simich and Gornet 8-2. Taylor and Camara will face Ivanov and Drysdale of West Alabama on Saturday.
In Flight “B” the tandem of Alex Mitric and McLean lost to Bluefield State's Sparr and Catlan 8-6, they will now face Maio and Graskamp of EKU tomorrow in the consolation.
