The Murray State men's and women's cross country teams head to South Bend, Ind., on Friday for the 57th annual Notre Dame Invitational.
There will be four races held on Friday, as both men and women will run a “Gold” race and a “Blue” race. The women's gold race will start things off, beginning at 2 p.m. The men's gold will follow at approximately 2:45.
The women's blue race is scheduled to begin at 4:15 and the men's race will be held at 5. The women's races will be a 5K and the men will run a five-mile race.
There will be 15 other schools competing in the women's gold race along with the Racers. In the Blue race for the women, there will be 19 teams competing, with four ranked opponents including second-ranked Florida State.
In the men's gold there are 18 teams in the race. 21 teams will run in the men's blue race, included is OVC member Eastern Kentucky, as well as 10 ranked opponents.
Butler's Julius Mwangi holds the meet record for the men, running a time of 22:49 back in 1998. In 2008, North Carolina's Brie Feinagle ran a 16:21 to set a meet record for the women. In all, approximately 805 athletes will be competing on Friday afternoon.
