Racers Fall To EKU 77-65

The Murray State Racers saw their second-half comeback fall short in a 77-65 loss at home to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
The Racers (11-4) suffered their first loss in Ohio Valley Conference play and are 2-1.
Trailing 39-25 starting the second half, the Racers started with an 8-2 run to cut the EKU lead to 41-33 on a fast break finish by Isaiah Canaan. The EKU lead was eight (67-59) at the 4:04 mark, when MSU completed a 13-0 run on back-to-back threes from Stacy Wilson and Canaan. MSU's run continued to a 16-0 spurt as they cut the lead to 67-62 on a Jeffery Moss three with 3:30 left. That was as close as MSU would get.
Canaan led the way for the Racers with 24 points, while Wilson added 16.
In the first half, the Racers fell behind 7-0 out of the gate but went on an 11-0 run to grab an 11-7 lead at the 12:01 mark. EKU answered with a 23-0 run to lead MSU 31-11 with 6:25 before half. MSU made a surge just before the half with baskets by Canaan and Wilson to trail 39-25 at the break.
MSU entered the game with one of the best home-court advantages in all of college basketball with 176 wins and a .885 winning percentage in 15 seasons in the CFSB Center. The loss to EKU is only MSU's sixth back-to-back losses in 15 seasons dating back to 1998.
The Racers hit the road for a Saturday game at Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. Tip time at the Dunn Center is 7:30 p.m.
The game will be heard over the air on Racer Radio on WFGE 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. the Racer TV Network will air the game locally on the cable systems of Time-Warner, Mediacom, Murray Electric and Comacst. ESPN3 and the OVC Digital Network will stream video.
