Strong Showing by Racers at Louisville Classic

The Murray State men's and women's cross-country teams raced Saturday at the Greater Lousville Classic. The race is one of the premier meets in the country, boasting close to 100 schools.
Abbie Oliver led the women's team in the "Gold" race. She crossed the finish line in 66th place with a time of 18:45.82. Brittany Bohn finished 10 spots behind her in 76th place with a time of 18:55.13. Emma Gilmore set another personal best in the 5K race, just missing breaking 19 minutes with a time of 19:00.26, good for 80th place.
Carolyne Tanui and Alicyn Hester rounded out the scoring for MSU with times of 19:12.56 and 19:57.97.
The 20-team Division I race held 170 runners. The Racers finished in 18th overall in the gold race with a score of 439. University of Kentucky won the race with a total score of 92.
On the men's side, Cole Cisneros just missed on a personal record, completing the 8K course in 26:45.45, good for 51st overall out of 259 racers in the "Blue" race. Brian Coleman followed suit in 27:47.45, a personal best, coming in 140th.
Evan Staviski, Neil Yockey and Jarred Koerner completed the scoring for the Racers. The finished in 164th, 174th and 181st respectively. Koerner ran a personal best 28:19.80.

The Racers are off for the next week before returning to action at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill. The meet will take place at the Newman Golf Course. It is their final tuneup before the OVC Championships.
