Former Racer Canaan Promoted To Houston Rockets

When former Racers' All-America Isaiah Canaan visited Murray State on graduation weekend (Dec. 14), he looked strong and healthy and ready if the Houston Rockets needed him. In the short time he was in the NBA D-league with the Rio Gande Vipers, Canaan had made this very clear through his play.
Suddenly the Rockets do need him and promoted the Biloxi, Miss. native to the big club in time for Monday's home game with the Dallas Mavericks.
A string of injuries made Canaan a ready resource as the Rockets gave the former Ohio Valley Conference MVP the call.
The Houston Chronicle wrote about Canaan's promotion as did the Rio Grande Vipers from their home page.
Racer fans can see Canaan Monday evening when the Rockets host the Mavericks and Christmas Day when Houston travels to San Antonio to face the Spurs. Both games tip at 7 p.m. CT. Check local listings for broadcast times and channels.
Canaan, a second round pick of the 2013 NBA Draft has played 12 games with Rio Grande and was ninth in the NBA D-League in scoring with 21.7 points per game. He was second in assist with 9.2 per game. Canaan helped the Vipers to a 10-2 record to start the season. He had 110 assists to only 36 turnovers.
