After a tough loss at Xavier Wednesday, the Murray State Women's Basketball schedule will look to close out its non-conference home slate Saturday with a win against New Orleans. The contest will be the last home game before the Racers embark on a four-game road trip that includes Alabama A&M, two games at Stetson and their OVC opener at Eastern Kentucky.

Despite being tied with just over six minutes to play, the Racers could not hold and fell at Xavier, 70-66, Wednesday night. Murray State led for a majority of the game, but was outscored 14-10 down the stretch and that proved to be the very slim difference in the contest. The Racers shot well in the contest at 38.7, even outshooting the Musketeer who only managed to sink 36.8 percent of their shots.

MSU also kept paced in the rebound column and only pulled down three fewer boards, 44-41, than Xavier. That was in large part due to the performances of Jashae Lee & Jessica Winfrey. Lee had the game's lone double-double with career-highs of 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Winfrey added eight points and 11 rebounds. Keiona Kirby led MSU for the eighth time in as many games with 18 points, while Janssen Starks and Taylor Porter followed with 16 and 13, respectively.

Saturday will be the fourth meeting between Murray State and New Orleans and the first ever in Murray. In the previous three times the two teams have met, two games were played in the Crescent City and one was played as part of UT Martin's Christmas Tournament. Last season, the two teams met in New Orleans and the Racers left with their second win of the series, 69-56.

The Privateers are 0-6 on the year and are coming off a 72-50 loss at Jackson State Thursday. UNO seemed outmatched from the onset, as they committed 34 turnovers and made just 18 field goals.
Despite the low amount of baskets made, the Privateers did finish the game with a high field goal percentage, making 18 of 40 for 45 percent. Jewel Angelo and Mathilde Fogelstrom had 12 and nine points, respectively, while Dannisha Jackson came off the bench to add eight.
The Privateers are averaging 46.0 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 77.2. They are also committing 27.7 turnovers per game, compared to just 9.0 assists. Jewel Angelo currently leads UNO in scoring with 8.0 per game, while Yasmin Taylor leads the team on the boards, also with 8.0.
