The Murray State Racers host the Belmont Bruins Thursday at 7 p.m. at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. ESPNU television will air the game while Racer Radio has the game on WFGE 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. ESPN3 will provide online video.
The game marks the first meeting between the two since 2007 and the first in Murray since they met at old Racer Arena in 1997. It is also the first meeting since the Bruins joined the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Racers (16-5) are 7-2 in the west division of the OVC and are coming off a 75-68 overtime win last Saturday over Austin Peay at home. Belmont (19-4) is tops in the OVC east at 10-0 and coming off a 74-52 win at home last Saturday over Tennessee Tech. The Racers have won four of their last five, while the Bruins have won 10 straight since their last loss at Central Florida (Dec. 29).
The Racers are 7-2 at home in the CFSB Center this season and 32-5 (.864) over the last three seasons.
MSU enters the game with their 1,500th all-time win in sight...MSU is 1,494-829 (.642) in their 88th season of college basketball.
MSU All-America selection Isaiah Canaan enters the Belmont game with a school-record streak of 30 games with a made three-point basket. Canaan is 185 points from becoming the sixth member of the MSU 2000-Point Club and the 17th in the history of the OVC. He is the top scorer in the OVC and was eighth in the nation as the week started. Canaan is currently eighth on the MSU career scoring list just behind seventh place Vincent Rainey (1994-97) at 1,888 points. Canaan is also the MSU all-time leader in made three-point baskets at 270. The OVC standard was set by Austin Peay's Joe Sibbitt (1994-98) at 319.
All-OVC Preseason selection Ed Daniel is second in the OVC with a .579 field goal percentage and seventh in the nation with a rebound average of 10.9 per game. Daniel is 13th in the OVC in scoring with 14.2 points per game.
After the Belmont game, MSU Stays at home Saturday when they host Tennessee State at 7 p.m.
