Murray State Basketball Renews Series With SIU

Murray State and Southern Illinois have agreed on a four-year deal to renew their men's basketball series in 2013 marking their first meeting since 2006.
The four-year agreement calls for each team to have two home games with the Racers to hosting the Salukis next season in 2013. MSU will play on the SIU Arena in Carbondale, Ill. in 2014 and 2016 with MSU getting its second home game at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. in 2015.
“This is exciting news for our fans that we've renewed the series with SIU,” MSU Director of Athletics Allen Ward said. “It's a game they can easily travel to see and it's a regional series that will create lots of interest. I want to thank SIU Athletics Director Mario Moccia and the coaching staffs of both teams for getting this series going again.”
“I'm excited that we were able to schedule this game for our fans and program,” MSU Head Coach Steve Prohm said. “The MSU-SIU series is a great non-conference rivalry that the fans would like to see.”
SIU leads the all-time series 16-14 since the first meeting in 1929. The last game between the Racers and Salukis was a SIU win at home in 2006. The last time the Salukis and Racers played in Murray was in 2005, a 57-53 win for SIU. MSU's last MSU win in the series was at home in 2003 by the score of 68-64.
