Canaan Named Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention

Murray State men's basketball star Isaiah Canaan was named by the Associated Press as All-America Honorable Mention on Monday.
Canaan, from Biloxi, Miss., gets the honor from the Associated Press after making All-America Second Team as a junior.
Canaan, who was Co-Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, was also recently named Lou Henson All-America and to the semifinal list for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award.
Among Canaan's many accomplishments, he was the sixth player in MSU history to reach the 2,000-point mark and the 17 in the OVC. He was in the top-10 in scoring in NCAA D-I during the entire season, finishing with 21.8 points per game and the fifth-best all-time MSU season with 676 points. Canaan also leaves MSU having been OVC Freshman of the Year and OVC Tournament MVP in 2010. He earned four straight seasons with OVC honors including a pair of OVC Player of the Year awards.
MSU won three straight OVC regular season titles, made two NCAA Tournament trips and one to the NIT during Canaan's career making him part of the winningest class in MSU history with 106 victories.
Canaan is set to compete Thursday in the State Farm Slam Dunk & 3-Point Contest at the Final Four in Atlanta.
