Construction Update #4
Construction of the new on-campus softball field is now in the home stretch. The batting cages are beginning to take shape with the concrete laid down and the frame work of the cages also installed. The two dugouts are also close to being finished with blue tin roofs now installed, as well as safety railing in front of them.
The most noticeable progress has been the delivery and installation of permanents bleachers behind home plate. The bleachers are a vibrant yellow color and will seat around 100 people. The outfield fence is also up and the new scoreboard has been delivered.
The first layer of red clay has been laid down on the infield. More layers will need to be added and several rounds of compacting will need to be done before it is complete, but the bright red color now shows a definitive outline of the field.
Several things still need to be completed, but the process is now nearing its end and the Racers' new home is beginning to take shape. Some of the next steps in the process will be the installation of the scoreboard, the building of the bullpens, the completion of the batting cages and dugout and the addition of more brick throughout the complex.
