Women Second, Men Third at Saluki Invitational

Murray State's men's and women's cross-country teams were back in action Saturday afternoon for the Saluki Invitational, hosted by Southern Illinois. The women's team came in second place in the six-team field, while the men finished third.
The women's team placed six runners inside the top-20 in the field of 67. Brittany Bohn led the way for MSU with her seventh place finish. She completed the 5K course in season-best 18:43.76. Carolyne Tanui was the only other Racer to finish in the top 10. Her time of 18:56.90 is also a season-best and landed her in 10th place.
Also scoring for the Racers were Emma Gilmore (19:00.62), Abbie Oliver (19:04.08) and Ali Hester (19:07.92). The finished in 11th, 13th and 14th respectively. Both Gilmore and Hester set personal records with their times.
Southern Illinois won the meet with a perfect score of 15, followed by the Racers with 55.
Murray State's men's team also placed five runners in the top 20. Cole Cisneros once again paced MSU with a time of 27:02.90, good for 13th place. He was followed by Evan Staviski (27:50.64) and Brian Coleman (28:02.40) who set personal bests and finished 15th and 17th respectively.
Neil Yockey (28:12.65) and Jarred Koerner (28:21.26) rounded out the scoring for the Racers and placed 18th and 20th.
Murray State's 83 points placed them third behind Southern Illinois 15 and Northwest Missouri's 48.
Both teams will race again Oct. 5 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
