Racers Run past FHU In Season Tune-Up

The Murray State Racers got the 2014-15 season going Thursday with a 74-42 exhibition win over the Freed-Hardeman Lions at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
Jarvis Williams led the way with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Racers, with 12 coming from Cameron Payne and 11 from Justin Seymour. Jeffery Moss added 10 to the Racer attack, while Jonathan Fairell added 12 rebounds. Payne had a double-double when he added 10 assists.
The preseason game leads the Racers into next week's season and home opener (Nov. 14) when the Racers welcome the Houston Cougars to The Bank.
The exhibition game offered the chance for the Racers to get in a tune-up
Trailing 21-15 with 7:05 before half, the Racers got going in a big way.
Seymour hit a three which was added to by Cameron Payne who scored a layup, made and assist and hit a three. The Racers completed a 13-0 run to lead 28-21 at 3:53.Jonathan Fairell scored a couple of baskets and dished to Jarvis Williams for a dunk that put MSU in front 34-23 with 2:00 left.
The Racers led 38-23 at the half and outscored the Lions 17-8 after they trailed by six points at the 7:05 mark.
The second half was more of the same as the Racers built a 25-point lead at 60-35 with 8:26 left on a steal and dunk by Payne.
The Racers only turned the ball over five teams in the game.
