Murray State men's basketball coach Steve Prohm announced the signing of Damarcus Croaker, a transfer from the University of Texas.
Croaker, from Orlando, Fla., will be junior for the Racers in the 2015-16 season.
"We're excited to have Damarcus join our program here at Murray State," Prohm said. "He has immediate family in the area and our previous relationship with him when we recruited him out of high school was a big help in his decision to join the Racer Family. He brings a lot of athleticism on the perimeter and will replace the scoring and defense we'll be losing when T.J. Sapp graduates."Â Â
Croaker played 33 games as a freshman for the Longhorns and made two starts. His best scoring game as was 15 points against Oklahoma where he hit five 3-point baskets. He appeared in five games this season totaling 47 minutes.
Croaker earned a spot on the 2014 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Out of Jones High School, Croaker was a two-time All-State selection as a junior and senior by the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches (FABC). He was named the No. 6 prospect coming out of the state by ESPN and Rivals.com ranked him nationally as the No. 106 prospect. He averaged 23.9 points per game as a senior and was named a finalist for the Florida Class 4A Player of the Year. The Orlando Sentinel had Croaker on its All-Central Florida Team twice. He participated in the Florida vs USA Hardwood Classic and the FABC All-Star Game.
