The Murray State Racers make their 23rd all-time post-season appearance when they travel to Springfield, Mo. to face the Missouri State Bears in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. The  Wednesday (March 19) game tips at 7:05 p.m. at JQH Arena and can heard on Racer Radio over the air on Froggy 103.7 FM. Online audio is available on Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. The Racers (18-11) haven't played since March 7 when they were knocked out of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in the semifinals in Nashville, Tenn. The Racers had two chances to tie the game in the final five seconds, but couldn't get a shot to go down and fell 86-83 to Eastern Kentucky. MSU finished second in the OVC at 13-3 in the regular season and were the champions of the OVC West Division. The Bears (20-12) made the semfinals of the Missouri Valley Tournament where they lost to undefeated Wichita State 67-42 March 8 in St. Louis, Mo. The Bears finished fourth in league play going 9-9.
Murray State has 15 NCAA appearances and seven to the NIT, where they last played in 2011 at Missouri State which was an 89-76 win for the Bears. The Racers are playing in the CIT for the first time since the event was started in 2009. Missouri State was the CIT champion in 2010.
The Racers are in post-season play for the second time in Steve Prohm's three seasons with the Racers. Murray State's Cameron Payne and Jarvis Williams earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors. Payne was named the OVC Freshman of the Year and All-OVC First Team while Williams was named All-OVC Second Team. Both were also selected for the All-OVC Newcomer Team and NABC All-District 19.
The OVC has four teams playing in the post-season including: EKU (NCAA), Belmont (NIT), Morehead State (CBI) and the Racers in the CIT. The MVC Also has four teams active including: Â Wichita State (NCAA), Indiana State (NIT), Illinois State (CBI) and the Bears.
