The Murray State men's basketball team was honored Thursday, April 24, by the Murray City Council and Mayor Bill Wells during their regular meeting at the City Hall council chambers in Murray, Ky.
The honor came as a result of the Racers' finish to the 2013-14 season when they won five straight games at the end of the season culminating with the championship of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
MSU secured their 27th straight winning season, which ranks them fourth in the nation behind only Syracuse, Kansas and Arizona. Additionally, the Racers set the school record with their fifth straight 20-win season. MSU finished the season 23-11, one of only four teams that ended their season with a victory in NCAA D-I.
MSU's only senior Dexter Fields was also recognized for his leadership and commitment to the team.
