Season Ends With Loss to Colonels

Murray State saw its 2014 season come to and end as the Breds dropped the season finale, 14-1, to Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon at Turkey Hughes Field.
The Colonels (24-31, 12-18 OVC) didn't waste any time as each of their first six hitters reached en route to a seven run inning. They would add three more runs in the second inning to put the game away.
The Breds got a run on the board in the second inning as Matt McGowan singled on a line off the glove of the third baseman and scored on a Dalton West double into the gap in left center.
Sheldon Baxter (2-6) took the loss after giving up five runs on five hits without retiring a batter. Brent Cobb (4-6) earned the victory after allowing one run on seven hits and four strikeouts over 8.1 innings.
Lawrence and West each collected two hits in the loss.
The Breds wrapped up the season with an overall record of 23-29, and a 14-16 mark in Ohio Valley Conference action.
