Racers Battle Tennessee - To Face Mercer

The Murray State women's tennis team opened the spring portion of the 2014-15 season by battling the Tennessee Volunteers to a 5-2 defeat at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville, Tenn.Â
The Racers scored wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots when Nancy Karaky defeated Brittany Lindl 1-0 when Lindl had to retire from the court. MSU's Verginie Tchakarova defeated Tiffany Tavares 6-4, 6-2. Karaky is ranked No. 106 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association coming into the weekend.
MSU's Andrea Eskauriatza is ranked No.  #124 and played from the No. 1 slot for the Racers. She lost 6-2, 6-3 to UT's Joanna Henderson.
The Racers certainly had a tough assignment right out of the gate by facing the Vols who are No. 33 in the nation.
The Racers come back at 5 p.m. CT today to face Mercer.
