Racers Fall Short at Tennessee Tech

Murray State women's basketball team falls short in a heartbreaking 74-69 loss against OVC opponent Tennessee Tech. Three Racers scored in double-digits in the loss.

Like any conference game, both teams fought hard for an advantage on the other. Both Murray State (5-10, 0-2 OVC) and Tennessee Tech (4-12, 1-2 OVC) held an advantage during the first half. The Golden Eagles had their largest lead of four points at the 19:03 mark, while Murray State had its largest lead of seven at the 5:53 mark. With the MSU and TTU constantly fighting for the lead, the score ended up 39-39 as they ran into the locker room. Murray State had three more rebounds, while Tennessee Tech had two more steals.

The second half continued as the first half began with both teams fighting for a conference win. MSU led for most of the second half, until Tennessee Tech took the lead at the 2:45 mark with a 68-67 score. Tennessee Tech never looked back after that point, and went on to win the game 74-69.

The Racers had three players with double-digit points, led by Cunningham who had a career-high 24 points. Keiona Kirby and Ke'Shunan James added 11 and 14, respectively. Netanya Jackson, James, and LeAsia Wright pulled down six rebounds each.

MSU continues its road stint at Jacksonville State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
