The Murray State women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in 2015-16 as the Racers travel to Alabama to face Alabama A&M in a 3 p.m. contest. The Racers are 2-2 all-time at AAMU and have lost the last two on the road to the Bulldogs. MSU's last road win in the series was in 2009.
The Racers opened the season Friday with a 91-75 win over Oakland City at the CFSB Center. Ke'Shunan James led the Racers with a game-high 26 points and added a career-best six steals in the win as MSU forced 23 turnovers in the game. LeAsia Wright added 17 points and Kyra Gulledge had nine points and 11 rebounds. The Racers were solid at the line in the contest, going 19-for-24 while OCU was just 6-of-12 at the stripe.
Alabama A&M opened the season Friday with a 96-44 loss to Alabama on the road in Tuscaloosa. Janie Myles led the Bulldogs with 14 points and 11 boards in the loss. AAMU shot just 27 percent (16-for-59) from the field in the game while Alabama shot 43.6 percent (34-for-78). The Bulldogs also went scoreless from 3-point range against the Crimson Tide, going 0-for-8. AAMU is led by Head Coach Semeka Randall who is in her third season with the Bulldogs.
Sunday's game will be the first of back-to-back on the road for the Racers as they will travel to Illinois State Nov. 18. MSU is 3-2 against the Bulldogs under Head Coach Rob Cross.
