After a pair of wins at home to start the season, the Murray State Racers take to the road this week to start a four-game trip against the Georgia Bulldogs at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga. The 6 p.m. Central Time game marks the second meeting between the two after their first in the 2002 NCAA Tournament.
All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 25th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis. Video streaming of the game will be seen on SEC Network Plus with Jeff Dantzler and Jarvis Hayes calling the action.
The Racers are 2-0 after defeating Middle Tennessee at the CFSB Center Tuesday 76-65. Jeffery Moss led a quartet of double-figure scorers with 19 points as he closed to 11 points from becoming the 43rd MSU player to reach 1,000 career points. MSU led by as many as 14 points and didn't allow the Blue Raiders to grab an offensive rebound in the second half.
The Racers will be looking for a win over an SEC opponent for the first time since 2012 when they beat Auburn in a first round game of the Charleston Classic. Since playing Vanderbilt in 1932, MSU has a record of 12-30 against current members of the SEC.Â
MSU's 16th head coach is Matt McMahon takes his team on the road for the first time. McMahon assisted Steve Prohm in 104 wins at MSU in the last four seasons. Prohm took the job at Iowa State in early June and the Racers quickly named McMahon head coach.
The Bulldogs opened the season with a close loss in overtime to Chattanooga 92-90. Â UGA was picked fifth in the SEC Preseason Poll.Â
Although the Racers are playing this season without sophomore Kedrick Flomo, everyone associated with Murray State is thankful he is recovering well from emergency heart surgery. Flomo is home now with his family in Winston-Salem, N.C. Doctor's say he'll make a full recovery.
After the game at Georgia, Murray State plays three games in three days at the Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 23-25) in Estero, Fla. The Racers' first opponent is Milwaukee with their second game against either Pepperdine or Duquesne.Â
