Racers Celebrate Moss For 1,000 Career points

Murray State's Jeffery Moss was honored recently for becoming the 43rd men's basketball student-athlete to surpass 1,000 career points in the Racers' program.
The senior from Madison, Alabama, was asked to come to mid-court before the Racers tipped against Evansville on Dec. 5.
Meeting him there was MSU Head Coach Matt McMahon and Bennie Purcell, Murray State's first 1,000-point player. They presented Moss with a commemorative ball to mark the special occasion.
While he was getting a standing ovation from the Racer faithful in the CFSB Center, Moss trotted to the far side of the court to give the ball to his parents, Xavier and Angelia. The entire scene made for a memorable moment, among the many great moments that have been seen at The Bank.

Moss reached 1,000 points when the Racers played Thanksgiving Week in Estero, Florida, at the Gulf Coast Showcase. He hit a free throw with 1:30 before half to get to 1,000. He's the first Racer to reach the magic mark since Jarvis Williams and Cameron Payne last season. Moss made the goal in his 102nd game.
After the UE game, Moss had scored in double-figures 50 times in his career at Murray State. His career-high game of 31 points was at home against Tennessee Tech on Jan. 23, 2014. His amazing game saw him start with eight-straight made shots.
Purcell, was the first Murray State player to reach 1,000 points as a senior in 1952.
