A chance to make history awaits the Murray State Racers Saturday when they finish the regular season Saturday at UT Martin. The 6 p.m. tip is at the Elam Center/Skyhawk Arena in Martin, Tenn.
With their 28th consecutive winning season, 24th Ohio Valley Conference championship and the No. 1 seed in next week's tournament already secured, the Racers can become the fifth team in 67 seasons of OVC basketball to go undefeated. The Racers are also looking to extend their 23-game win streak, which is the second longest in the nation behind only the Kentucky Wildcats who are 28-0.
The Racers finished their home season Thursday with a 65-57 win over Eastern Illinois on an emotionally charged Senior Day at the CFSB Center. MSU saw seniors Jonathan Fairell, T.J. Sapp and Jarvis Williams honored before and after the game. This trio has firmly stitched themselves into the fabric of the Racer program. In games they played together, this group was 27-1 at home over the last two seasons. Since Sapp became eligible on the 10th game of last season, this group is 44-10 overall.
The Racers (25-4, 15-0 OVC) are meeting UT Martin (Eastern Illinois Panthers (18-10, 10-5 OVC) for the second time. The first meeting, in Murray, was a hard-fought Racer win 65-62 Jan. 31. This was the 17th win in the current 23-game win streak. Sapp hit a corner 3-pointer with 44 seconds remaining and the Racers made a defensive stop to win the game.
UTM is having a big resurgence under first-year head coach Heath Schroyer. UTM goes into Saturday's game guaranteed to be either No. 3 or No. 4 seed in next week's tournament in Nashville.

Jarvis Williams is closing on 1,000 career points. He enters the Saturday game with 951 points. Jeffer Moss has 900 and Cameron Payne has already steamed past the mark and has 1,146.
