USBWA Release
Murray State's Cameron Payne has been named to the United States Basketball Writers' Association of America All-District Four Team.
The USBWA announced the teams from nine districts including a Player of the Year from each one.
Payne, a sophomore from Memphis, Tennessee, turned in a brilliant second season for the Murray State Racers. After being Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2014, Payne was named OVC Player of the Year this season after he ranked 13th in the nation with 20.2 points per game and 13th in assists with 5.8 per game.
He has also been selected as a semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy.
The Racers (27-5) and Payne are anticipating more post-season play as NCAA Tournament Selection Sunday is fast approaching. As champions of the OVC regular season, the Racers are looking to get an at-large bid to the NCAA's, but are guaranteed a spot in the National Invitation Tournament at the very least.
USBWA District-4 consists of schools from Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
