Pratt and Conway Qualify for NCAA Championship

It was announced on Thursday that Tonia Pratt and Ashley Conway have qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championship. The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants in the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championship competition.

The championships will be held May 28-30. Pratt and Conway will compete in the East region that will be held at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. The qualifiers out of the East and West region will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.

Pratt qualified in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. Her shot put distance (15.01m) ranks 41st in the region. She set the distance at the ASU Red Wolf Open on April 14-25. She threw 52.22m in the discus which is good for 17th best in the region. The throw was at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Meet on May 16. Her throw not only put her into the NCAA preliminary round, but it broke the OVC record that was set in 1981. Pratt's hammer throw distance is 59.82m which is good for 18th best in the region. She set the school record with the hammer throw at the Margaret Simmons Invitational.

Conway qualified in the long jump. She jumped 6.13m which made her the 30th best jump in the region. Conway made the jump at the ASU Red Wolf Open on April 24-25.

At the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship meet Pratt made in on the podium in two of her three throwing events. She finished first in the discus, and third in the hammer throw while finishing fourth in the shot put. Conway finished fourth in the long jump at the OVC.Â
