Pratt and Conway Finish at NCAA East Preliminary

Tonia Pratt and Ashley Conway of the Murray State track and field team end their four-year campaign at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Florida. Pratt qualified and competed in the shot put, discus and hammer, while Conway competed in the long jump. The top 12 individuals from each event earned a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships.

As seniors, this was the student-athletes last time competing in Navy and Gold, but the two leave their names in Racer history. The two combined rank in the top 10 in Murray State in six indoor records and six outdoor records. During her four years, Conway has 99 top-10 finishes, 58 top-five, 40 top-three, and 14 first place finishes. Pratt has 126 top-10 finishes, 83 top-five, 59 top-three, and 31 first place finishes during her four-year campaign as a Racer.
Day Three
On the final day in Jacksonville, Florida, Pratt competed in the hammer throw. Before the final flight she sat in eighth with a throw of 55.89m (183'4"). Unfortunately, her throw was not enough to keep her in the top 12. She finished in 19th, with the final qualifier throwing 57.92m (190'0").Â
Day Two
Pratt started the day off for the two Racers competing in the discus. She threw 46.27m (151'9"). She was not in the top 12 throws to land her a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship. The last qualifying spot threw 50.76m (166'6:").
Conway finished 31st in the long jump with a distance of 5.79 (19'0"). The last qualifying distance was 6.07m (19'11").
Pratt has one more chance to make it all the day to Eugene, Oregon with the hammer throw Saturday.Â

The throw was not enough to push her through to the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship, but it was 14 spots ahead of her seeding. The last qualifying spot threw a distance of 15.83m (51'11.25").
