MSU Makes Quick Work of Skyhawks

The Murray State volleyball team closed its opening OVC weekend with its second 3-0 sweep in as many matches. The Racers improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in league play Saturday with a victory over UT Martin on the road. Set scores went 25-13, 25-20 and 25-22. Match time was a little over an hour long.
Scottie Ingram led the way for the Racers with 14 kills and also recorded 10 digs, giving Ingram her sixth double-double of the year. Ingram also led the way with two total blocks. Both teams had four blocks overall in the match. Kristen Besselsen added 12 kills in the win and Taylor Olden chipped in with five.
Sam Bedard was just a dig shy of another double-double for her on the season, as she tallied 29 assists and 9 digs. Bedard was also one of five Racers to record a service ace in the win. Ellie Lorenz led MSU with 12 digs.
As a team, the Racers out-hit the Skyhawks .252 to .175 and also had a 70 percent sideout percentage while UT Martin (5-14, 1-1 OVC) was at 52 percent.
MSU has just one match next weekend as it travels to face Eastern Kentucky in a 2 p.m. match next Saturday.
