This Weekend
The Racers enter the weekend in a three-way tie for first place in the OVC along with Austin Peay and Jacksonville State at 5-1. MSU opens the weekend Friday night at 7 p.m. against Tennessee Tech before closing Saturday at 2 p.m. with a first-place showdown against JSU.
Last Weekend
MSU moved back into first place in the league with a pair of road wins in the state of Illinois as the Racers defeated SIU Edwardsville in a thrilling five set match Friday night. MSU then swept Eastern Illinois Saturday. Scottie Ingram led the Racers offensively in both matches recording 16 and 17 kills, respectively in the two wins. Against EIU, Ingram had a monster match as she hit .394 and also added 14 digs. Libero Ellie Lorenz was great in both matches in the back row, averaging 6.75 digs per set for the weekend.
Climbing the Ranks
Scottie Ingram continues her assault on the all-time top ten lists in program history as she now sits in third place all-time in career kills with 1,356 and career attacks with 3,581. Ingram is also 10th all-time in digs with 1,270. Joining Ingram on the career digs list is Ellie Lorenz, who's 1,563 digs are fifth-most in school history.
Scouting Tennessee Tech
Tennessee Tech is led by Shealene Little's 162 kills on the year and is third on the team averaging 2.72 digs per set. Rachel Thomas has 148 kills this year and Alyssa Povey has 127 and is hitting .210. Shaneice James is averaging 1.82 kills per set in 2016 and is hitting a team-high .359. Setter Sharon Anderson is averaging 9.69 assists per set to lead the team while Kennedy Wade is averaging a team-best 4.46 digs per set. The Golden Eagles are hitting .153 as a team and have 89.5 team blocks.
Scouting Jacksonville State
After missing the 2015 OVC Tournament, the Gamecocks have flourished so far this season and sit in a threeway tie for first place in the OVC standings at 5-1 heading into the weekend. JSU is led by Allyson Zuhlke who has a team-high 306 kills and is third in the league in hitting percentage at .305. Kaylee Frear has 205 kills this year and is hitting .228. The Gamecocks run a 6-2 offense and their two setters, Rachel Perucki and Jennifer Hart, are averaging 5.92 and 4.39 assists per set, respectively. JSU leads the conference in hitting percentage (.217) and opponent hitting percentage (.147) and is averaging a league-best 2.91 blocks per set (271 total). Mackenzie Rombach leads the league and the nation with 124 total blocks (1.33 per set).
