This Weekend
Murray State volleyball continues its five-match road trip and puts its current six-match winning streak on the line this weekend as the Racers travel to face Southeast Missouri and UT Martin Friday night and Saturday morning, respectively. MSU also looks to remain atop the OVC standings as it currently sits a half-game ahead of SIU Edwardsville and one game ahead of Austin Peay.
Last Weekend
The Racers began their road swing with a pair of victories in Nashville as they swept Tennessee State on Friday night and won a five-set, back-and-forth battle with Belmont Saturday afternoon. Scottie Ingram led MSU with 17 kills and 16 kills, respectively in the two matches while Rachel Giustino and Dacia Brown recorded 18 and 17 kills combined, respectively over the weekend.
Scouting Southeast Missouri
Krissa Gearring leads the Redhawks and the league in kills per set this season with 4.34. Gearring is also third on the team averaging 2.88 digs per set and has 27 total blocks. Katarina Rotta is averaging a team-best nine assists per set from her setter position while Jade Mortimer is averaging 4.65 digs per set. As a team, SEMO is hitting .157 and has 148 total blocks. In the first meeting earlier this season against Murray State, the Racers swept the Redhawks 25-19, 26-24 and 25-13.
Scouting UT Martin
The Skyhawks enter the weekend led by newcomer Jemima Idemudia's 2.78 kills per set while Madison Wessling and Macy Reigelsperger are averaging 2.56 and 2.46 kills per set, respectively on the season. Setter Kelly Lean leads UTM averaging 9.96 assists per set and Colleen Larson leads the back row averaging 3.69 digs per set. As a team, the Skyhawks are hitting .162 and are averaging 1.64 blocks per set. The Racers opened OVC play earlier this season with a sweep over the Skyhawks in late September, 25-15, 25-21 and 29-27.
