Racers Top Panthers in Straight Sets

The Murray State volleyball team made it a 2-0 weekend as the Racers took care of business against Eastern Illinois on Saturday, winning in straight sets at Lantz Arena, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-18.
Scottie Ingram led the way with a stellar match as she tallied 17 kills and hit .394 to go along with a pair of service aces, a solo block and 14 digs, giving Ingram her 13th double-double of the season. Kristen Besselsen had 12 kills in the sweep while Olivia Chatman and Dacia Brown added six and five, respectively. Both Brown and Chatman led the way on defense at the net for MSU (10-8, 5-1 OVC) with three total blocks each.
Ellie Lorenz continued her strong weekend with a match-high 20 digs in the match while Hannah Stultz tallied 35 assists, six digs and a pair of aces. Alex Kaufmann had 12 assists on the day.
As a team, MSU hit .256 while the Panthers (4-17, 1-5 OVC) hit just .153. The Racers also out-blocked the Panthers in the win, 8-7 and had twice as many service aces at 8-4.
MSU returns to action and returns home next weekend for a pair of matches beginning Friday night at 7 p.m., at Racer Arena against Tennessee Tech.
