The Murray State women's basketball team opened its 50th season of collegiate play with a 101-59 win over the Eureka Red Devils at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers (1-0) got a game-high 25 points from Ke'Shunan James on 11-of-19 from the field and 23 points from Abria Gulledge who hit 6-of-12 from the field.

MSU broke from the game and grabbed a 27-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and enjoyed a 53-24 lead at halftime.

MSU dominated every statistic category against their visitors from NCAA D-3 including a 54-36 lead in the rebounding department. The Racers shared the ball well and had 18 assists on their 34 field goals.

MSU held Eureka to 33 percent shooting (21-of-63), while they shot 48 percent (34-of-71).

MSU is now 21-29 all-time in season openers and 25-25 in home openers. Under Head Coach Rob Cross, the Racers are 7-2 in both home and season openers.

The Racers' next challenge is a Monday home game against Alabama A&M. The tip time is 7 p.m. at the CFSB Center. MSU hits the road for the first time at Southern Illinois on Thursday (Nov. 17).
