Fresh off its 81-70 win over UNCG, the Murray State women's basketball team looks to win its fourth straight at home on Tuesday as the Racers host Lipscomb at 6 p.m. The Racers are looking to begin the season 4-1 overall for the first time since 2009-10 and for their first 4-0 start at home since they went a perfect 14-0 at "The Bank" during the 2008-09 season.
In the victory over the Spartans on Sunday, Ke'Shunan James scored 24 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds to lead the Racers to the win. Jasmine Borders added a season-high 17 points and hit a career-best five 3-pointers. As a team, MSU made a season-best 11 from beyond the arc.
Last week in three games, James averaged 19.3 points, 11 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. James shot nearly 55 percent from the field (23-for-42) in the three games and also made three 3-pointers and went 9-of-11 at the free-throw line and added eight steals defensively.
Last season in Nashville, the Racers fell to the Lady Bisons 93-85. LU shot 52 percent from the floor and made 12-of-22 from 3-point range in the contest while MSU shot just 5-of-30 from beyond the arc. James led five Racers in double figures with 20 points in the loss and also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Lady Bisons are led by Alex Banks' 11.8 points per game this season. Banks is the only player averaging in double figures so far on the year and also leads Lipscomb on the boards with 5.5 rebounds per game. Kaylee Cotton is second on the team averaging 6.3 points per contest while coming off the bench. So far this season, Lipscomb is shooting 31 percent from the floor and 21 percent from 3-point range and is averaging 35.5 rebounds per contest. The Lady Bisons are 0-3 on the road so far on the year.
