The Racers hit the road for back-to-back contests beginning Saturday at Ohio in a 1 p.m., central time game. MSU's lone road game so far this season is also its only loss, 70-63 at Southern Illinois on November 17. The Racers will also play Nov. 28 at East Tennessee State.
MSU is coming off a 79-59 victory over Lipscomb Tuesday night at the CFSB Center. The win pushes the Racers' record to 4-0 at home this year, their best start at home since they went a perfect 14-0 at "The Bank" back in 2008-09. Ke'Shunan James and LeAsia Wright powered the Racers past the Lady Bisons, recording season-highs with 28 and 23 points, respectively. On their own, the duo outscored Lipscomb for much of the contest.
Kyra Gulledge recorded a season-high five blocks in the win over LU. Gulledge now has 76 blocks for her career and has moved into second place on the all-time career digs list in program history. Mechelle Shelton is first all-time with 118 career rejections.
The Racers have gotten off to fast starts in both halves so far this season. In the first quarters of games, MSU is outscoring its opponents 118-58, while in the third quarter, the Racers are outscoring their opponents 116-75.
The Bobcats enter Saturday's contest with a perfect 3-0 record having defeated High Point, UT Martin and Northern Kentucky already this season. Ohio is led by Quiera Lampkins who is averaging 18 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this year in two games played. Jasmine Weatherspoon and Taylor Agler are second and third on the squad averaging 11.3 and 10.3 points per game, respectively.
As a team, the Bobcats are averaging 68.7 points per game and have held opponents to just 48 points per contest. Ohio is shooting 40 percent from the floor overall and 29 percent from 3-point range. The Bobcats are also excellent at the free-throw line as a team, shooting 75 percent.
This will be MSU's first-ever trip to Athens, Ohio. The Racers' previous three meetings against the Bobcats have either been at home or at a neutral site.
