Racers Travel to Music City Challenge

The Murray State Track and Field team travels to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
The Racers are coming off a big weekend where they broke two all-time records at MSU. Vallery Korir set a new record in the 5000m at the Meyo Invitational. Â She beat the old record that she also held by over ten seconds as she ran 17:06.
The distance meter relay team also set a new school record at the Meyo Invitational. The relay team, made up of Brittany Bohn, Emma Gilmore, Ali Hester, and Jocelyn Payne, ran 11:55 to set the new school record.
Freshman Jabreuna Brimlett is one to watch for the Racers. Brimlett competed in her first collegiate pentathlon at the Don DeNoon Invitational scoring 3129. She set a new personal record in the long jump during the event as she jumped 5.57m (18'3.25"). She competed in the triple jump for the first time this season. Brimlett jumped 11.80m (38'8.75") to land fifth on the all-time list for Murray State.
First events on Friday are the high jump and weight throw at 4 p.m. Running events are set to start at 7 p.m.Â
