Racers Prepare for the OVC Indoor Championship

The Murray State track and field team travels to Nashville, Tennessee for the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship on Friday and Saturday.
The Racers roll into Nashville leading the OVC in two events. Tamdra Lawrence ran 7.57 in the 60 meters at the Pittsburg State Invitational which is the best time in the OVC. Her time ranks second all-time at MSU. Vallery Korir leads the league in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:49. The time is also the best all-time at Murray State. Also having great times in the 3000 meters is Brittany Bohn (9:51) and Ali Hester (9:54). MSU has three of the top five times for the OVC in the event this year.
Other notable performances from this season include Jocelyn Payne (7.83) and Taylor McCammon (7.88) who landed in the record books this season in the 60 meters. Korir also broke the record in the 5000 meters this season with a time of 17:06. Freshman Jabreuna Brimlett ran the third fastest time in MSU history this season in the 60 meter hurdles finishing with a time of 8.61.
Events are set to start on Friday at 9:00 a.m. with the pentathlon. Field events will begin at 2:30 p.m. with the long jump, high jump, and weight throw.
