Racers Compete at the Black and Gold Invitational

The Murray State women's track and field team competed in the first day of the Black and Gold Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee in Friday.
In the first meet of the outdoor season, Tamdra Lawrence picked up a second place finish in the 200 meters as she finished with a time of 23.94. Her time ranks fourth all-time at Murray State. Victoria Yocum also competed in the event as she finished with a time of 25.66. Freshman Jocelyn Payne ran 25.93 in the event.
A multitude of Racers set personal records in the 1500 meters. Vallery Korir ran 4:38 in the event. Her time is a personal record that ranks fifth all-time at Murray State. Leah Krause ran a personal best 4:49. Rebekah Priddy set a major personal record as she beat her old record by over fifteen seconds as she ran 4:51. Emma Gilmore (4:42), Emani Griffin (4:46), and Tia Weston (5:05) also competed in the event.
Emily Flaherty was the lone Racer in the 5000 meters. She finished with a time of 18:42.
Jill Jachino set a big personal record in the triple jump. Jachino jumped 11.63 meters (38'1.75"). Her jump ranks seventh all-time at MSU.
Christina Meinhardt competed in the shot put. The freshman threw 12.07 meters (39' 2")
The Racers compete in the second day of competition on Saturday. Discus and High Jump are set to begin at 10 a.m.
